A little history….
|
The union of the Moretti family and Furlotti family was the ideal combination
for creating Finca Adalgisa.
The Moretti were highly cultured, prominent lawyers who originated from
Tuscany
and who settled in
Mendoza in the 18th century.
My grandfather, Pedro Moretti, was active in both his public life
as a magistrate and senator and in his professional life, as a Professor of Law.
The Furlotti family come from
Parma,
Italy, emigrating to
Argentina and settling in
Mendoza in 1893. They bought their first vineyard after only a few years and soon the family were producing wine from
180 hectares of their land. |

The Furlotti marriage produced 10 children who all became involved in the family business, Bodega Furlotti.
This went on to become so successful that at its height, it was producing 30 million litres of wine from 3,000 hectares and indeed the name BF became a household name throughout
Argentina. No table was complete without a bottle from BF. Vineyard.
In 1918, Angel Furlotti, the founder of B,F was awarded the title of ‘Caballero de la Corona’ by the Italian Government for his contribution to the war effort during the First World War. His son, Arturo, also received recognition from the Italian Government and was awarded the ‘Insignia del gran official al merito.’
Since emigrating, both families have always been active in the local Italian and Argentinian communities, supporting public works such as the building
of the
Italian
Hospital in
Mendoza.
This valuable legacy and love of both wine production and community involvement continues to this very day through GF, the great granddaughter of the respected Senor Furlotti, the original founder of BF.
